Community Power Amplifies Athletic Dreams

When you have a pageant sister who happens to be an Olympic champion, and she's doing transformative work in your community, support isn't just an option—it's a calling.

That's exactly what happened when we learned about Michelle Carter's Nike Girls Track & Field Camp in Dallas-Fort Worth (formerly You Throw Girl). Michelle and I share a bond that goes beyond pageantry; we're sisters in purpose, and she has been an incredible supporter of our work at LIMITLESS. From graciously delivering the commencement speech at Asher College as a huge favor to me, to supporting our other events and programs, Michelle has consistently shown up for our community.

So when we discovered she was launching her camp this year—a program specifically designed to help plus-size female athletes and girls in underrepresented communities show up boldly and confidently—we knew we had to ask: How can we support this much-needed work?

The answer came in the form of an SUV loaded with basketballs, science kits, school supplies, and hope, delivered directly to Michelle's home. But this donation represents something deeper than charitable giving—it's community investment, hometown hero support, and a demonstration of how we can lift each other up in meaningful ways.

Beyond Equipment: Building Complete Athletes

The Nike Girls Track & Field Camp isn't your typical sports program. It combines elite athletic training with confidence-building workshops, mindset development, and self-care education for girls in grades 8-12.

This holistic approach recognizes what many traditional programs miss: young female athletes need more than technical skills to thrive. They need comprehensive support that addresses their mental, emotional, and academic development alongside their athletic potential.

The donated supplies reflect this understanding. Science kits sit alongside basketballs. School supplies complement athletic equipment. Each item serves the camp's mission to develop well-rounded young women who see themselves as capable in multiple arenas.

Strategic Partnership Creates Multiplied Impact

This wasn't just a strategic partnership—it was a response rooted in gratitude and genuine belief in Michelle's mission. We donated not only because we're grateful for everything Michelle has done for us, but because we truly believe in what she's doing and what she represents to our girls.

Michelle's work addresses a critical gap in athletics, particularly for plus-size female athletes who often face additional barriers and challenges. Her camp creates a space where these young women can develop confidence, skills, and the belief that they belong in athletic spaces.

Supporting hometown heroes and marginalized populations, especially in underrepresented areas, isn't just the right thing to do—it's essential for building stronger communities. When we lift up leaders like Michelle who are doing transformative work, we create ripple effects that extend far beyond any single program or event.

Addressing the Confidence Gap in Female Athletics

Research consistently shows that girls drop out of sports at higher rates than boys, often citing confidence issues and societal pressures. Programs like the Nike Girls Track & Field Camp directly address these challenges by creating environments where young women can develop both athletic skills and personal confidence.

The camp's structure recognizes that confidence-building requires intentional programming. Elite coaching provides technical expertise, while mindset training and self-care workshops address the mental and emotional aspects of athletic performance.

By combining these elements, the program creates a comprehensive support system that helps young female athletes develop resilience both on and off the field. This approach acknowledges that athletic success requires more than physical ability—it demands mental strength and self-belief.

Community Investment in Future Leaders

The donation represents something larger than immediate program support. It demonstrates community investment in developing the next generation of female leaders, both in athletics and beyond.

When organizations like Book Angel contribute resources to programs like the You Throw Girl /Nike Girls Track & Field Camp, they're investing in long-term community development. The young women who benefit from these programs often become leaders, mentors, and community contributors themselves.

This cycle of investment and return creates sustainable community growth. Today's program participants become tomorrow's program leaders, donors, and community champions.

The partnership between Book Angel and Michelle Carter illustrates how strategic community collaboration can create lasting impact. By combining resources, expertise, and shared vision, organizations can build programs that address multiple dimensions of youth development simultaneously.

The real measure of success won't be found in the donated equipment alone, but in the confident young women who emerge from programs that see them as complete individuals worthy of comprehensive investment.

A Call to Community Action

We encourage others to reach out and participate in Michelle's camp this year—and in any future camps she hosts. Whether through donations, volunteering, sponsorship, or simply spreading the word, there are countless ways to support this vital work.

Michelle graciously received our donation, but more importantly, she continues to show up for our girls when they need champions the most. Now it's our turn to show up for her and the transformative work she's doing in our communities.

When we support programs like the Nike Girls Track & Field Camp, we're not just helping individual athletes—we're investing in a future where all young women, regardless of size or background, can step boldly into their power and potential.

Michelle’s camp is a one-of-a-kind experience for young female athletes—empowering them on and off the field with elite coaching, mindset training, and self-care workshops.
